Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long term medication can order a repeat prescription in writing by using the repeat slip attached to their last prescription. Either drop it in to the surgery or post it. If you enclose a stamped addressed envelope we will post it back to you.

Alternatively, you can order online via the NHS App. First-time users are required to complete a simple registration.

Some local pharmacies offer a delivery service for the elderly and housebound; please ask at reception for further details.

Please note telephone requests for prescriptions will not be accepted.

We have EPS (Electronic Prescription Service) available at the surgery. please contact your local pharmacy to fill in Nomination form.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.90
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £114.50
• 3-month PPC: £32.05

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. We do not accept prescription requests over the phone. You can request this via the NHS App, email or drop prescription leaf over at the surgery or ask you chemist to request on your behalf.
